Police Officer

As a police officer in the City of Cocoa you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of countless numbers of people. We are an accredited law enforcement agency through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation since 2006.

POLICE OFFICER COMPENSATION

STARTING SALARY:
$50,024

$8,000 SIGNING BONUS FOR NEW HIRES 

$1,500 upon hire. $1,500 upon completion of department field training program. $5,000 recruitment bonus paid by the State of Florida

UP TO $10,000 BONUS FOR PRIOR LEO/MILITARY EXPERIENCE

  • Take home car within 50 miles of city limits.

  • Pension buy-back for previous law enforcement or military experience 

  • Retirement plan offers 75% at 25 years of service

    • 3% COLA annually, after the third year

    • 5-year DROP benefit available at a guaranteed rate of 6.5%

    • 100% vested at 10 years

  • Eligible for specialty units after completion of one-year probation period. 

  • Work 14 days a month with 4 consecutive days off.

  • Additional $1,560 night shift differential 

  • Up to additional $600 per year for college degree(s). Advanced law enforcement training can be combined with a college degree for up to $1,440 per year additional pay.

  • Tuition Reimbursement Program

  • First Time Home Buyer Assistance

  • 100 hours holiday pay

  • $125 annual boot allowance

  • Beards and Tattoos allowed (with some restrictions)

  • No cost medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability insurance for employee.

  • Free employee health clinic
